2.1.1. Listen and Watch.

For now, just enjoy watching the video, and listening to the story. All of the content for this course relies on the information contained in this video – so we will keep returning to it. In the video you will hear a short story about Gawarrgay. The video shares some aspects of the Gamilaraay cultural knowledge which relate to the gathering of emu eggs. Only the public version of the story is shared.

2.1.2. Reflect

What do you notice? Did you notice there are many names for emu’s relating to their age, their role, what is happening both in the sky and on Country? Did you hear a few words relating to seasonal changes on Country? Or some words about the sky and land?

What word or words stuck with you after watching for the first time? Have you heard any of these words before?

Once you’ve taken some time to reflect. Move on to the next module in the series where we will begin to look at the first part of the core vocabulary we are learning about, Emus.
